The Adventist team was seeking to reestablish brand identity and unity amongst the many churches in the network. We used Pattern Lab, a static site generator for pattern library compilation, to build a library of patterns and styles that, when assembled, create components and templates with which the individual churches could build their websites while keeping the overall brand intact.
We named this library ALPS, the Adventist Living Pattern System. It is “living” because it is constantly evolving, and it is a “pattern system” because it holds each of the parts that can be combined to build an individual church site. Currently, we are in the process of building a robust theming system that will eventually be integrated into a WordPress CMS.
